Being a TV producer on a women’s talkshow back then got me doing a lot of research. One of the main topics which was of utmost important and we couldn’t have stress this enough- is picking the right bra size. It sounds silly because we wear our bras on a daily basis and some even wear it at night- i don’t, because i prefer to let my boobies breathe. But what’s shocking is that, about 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size. And no matter how many times we stress and discuss on the topic, 8 out of 10 of you reading this post are probably still wearing the wrong size. Now, that’s one thing, match it up with the wrong style and walla! You’ve got the perfect recipe for disaster.
Before i move on, take a look at yourself in a mirror,
- Are your fats intact?
- Does your boobs look like they are screaming for help?
- Are there lines imprinted onto your shoulders?
- Does your band ride up your back?
- Does the underwire in your bra poke you?
All these are signs that you’re wearing the wrong bra size. Now i’m no expert, but let me share some of the useful tips that I gained while producing the show.
1.Measure, measure, measure!
Just like my previous post ‘A Plus Size Girl’s Guide About Purchasing Clothes Online’, its super important to get your measurements right. Sizes in different stores may be different from another so don’t swear by the size you’re used to in every store.
- Don’t shy away from help.
The ladies in the lingerie stores are experts! Many of the commercial lingerie store that i know off provide proper training to their staff, so they are there to help! You may feel shy or embarrassed.. But seriously.. DON’T BE! I’m sure these ladies have measured and helped so many women that go to their store that they’ve seen it all!
- Your Bra size could change every 6 months!
When was the last time you got fitted? How long have you been using the same bra size? There are numerous factors that contribute to the change of your breast size and shape such as hormones, age, exercise, lifestyle change and so on. So it’s best to get fitted twice a year. Or if some of the signs mentioned above comes along.. You know that it’s time for a new size!
- Your bra should fit on the last set of hooks
When measuring your band size, go according to the outermost set of hooks, not the innermost. A bra is going to stretch a few inches over it’s lifetime, that’s when you move on to the next set of hooks.
I personally love Sorella’s everyday T-shirt Bra. Their price is reasonable, it gives me all the coverage i need and they’re durable too! Speaking of bras.. I think i need to get a few new ones! So if anyone knows when good sale is coming on, do let me know! hehe
