Most women will tell you that they love going to the spa to get pampered and just relax without having to care about anything in the world (at least for those few minutesla). So when i was invited to experience CHILL by Swasana Spa located in Impiana KLCC Hotel, i was ready to escape from work for a relaxing experience…. or so i thought.

As i was taken through the experience i realized a few things which inspired me to write this post. Imagine all the things that the spa therapist have to endure when they perform our therapy- like washing your feet and massaging your head. This was not the first time that i’ve gone for a spa treatment, but it was the first time for when i’m not actually on holiday; so i may not have been as ready as i thought i was. So i learnt a few lessons in order to avoid future embarrassment and came up with a few questions that i think you should ask yourself before going for a spa session.

Am i wearing the right type of clothes?

When i got the invite, they mentioned to dress ‘comfortable’. So i wore a simple casual black dress- you know, something that you can easily put on and take off.. I assumed that i would need to dress down and change into their robe or something. But once i arrived, i was glad to know that i didn’t have to strip naked, because the treatment that they’re treating me focuses on the legs, arms, back, shoulders and head. The treatment focuses more on reflexology and acupressure.. Not sure if it was the Chill Out treatment or Chill Classic. Anyway, it was something that i desperately needed in order to release all the stress especially on my shoulders.. Plus it saves me all the hassle the change and bathe after..

Are my sandals/shoes presentable?

I’m the type of person who loves wearing the same comfy shoes day in and day out especially when it comes to a working day. So, when the therapist ushered me to the Chill area and told me to take off my shoes, i was like okay.. so i nicely tucked it at the side of the bed without thinking that she will actually pick up my shoes and put it on display in the next room!! (a post treatment area where you will be served a lovely hot refreshing drink, lemon grass if i’m not mistaken~ it was so sedap by the way). Imagine if i had stepped in cat poop or something! Gosh! So yes ladies, don’t be like me.. unless you really don’t mind displaying your partially torn and worn-out shoes infront of other guest there.. then by all means.. haha!

Alamak! Dah Korek telinga ke belom? (Have i cleaned my ears?!)

So after taking off your shoes, you’ll be instructed to lie back; it’s sort of like a sofa bed, so you’re not actually lying down. The therapist will pass you an ipod with some soothing, bird chirping, water flowing kinda music and you’ll actually have to wear some earphones. And this is where you’ll ask yourself this question… will i leave some ear wax on the earphones?! Because of course they will clean or replace the buds on the earphone for the next guest right? Now even though the aftermath will be just between you and your therapist, i would still be embarrassed if i did leave some dirt on the earphones. So make sure you korek your telinga if you’re planning to try CHILL by Swasana Spa ok?

Kaki i busuk tak?! (Are my feet smelly?!)

Once you’ve settled with the headphones, they’ll pass you an eye mask to cover your eyes which results in an elevate to your sense of touch. I tried to relax but when the therapist starting wiping my feet with a warm damn cloth, i was like.. kaki i busuk ke? But no guys.. it’s just their standard procedure before starting the treatment. hehe!

Is it okay to wear make up? (Nak Selfie ni!)

The treatment went on for a good 60-90 minutes, i’m actually not sure cause it was really relaxing i didn’t keep track of time.. And no.. i didn’t fall asleep, my brain was thinking so much and the person next to me was kind off snoring really loud.. LOL. In terms of make up, i would really keep it to bare minimum, cause you have your eyes closed for more than an hour and when you take the eye mask off, your eyes gets a bit teary and you most probably have the urge to rubs your eyes too..(or maybe that’s just me?)

    This looks like a relaxing spa. Glad you have a wonderful experience.
    When visiting a spa, i simple dress comfortably usually a summer dress and flat sandals. And no makeup.

    Reading tips online and visiting their websites and reviews helps a lot. Spa have almost same standards, it only varies on it amenities and products being used.
