Being a mum, a working mum mind you, is not easy at all! Besides having to think about work, you go home only to start thinking and preparing things for your baby and then there’s the husband, the laundry, the cleaning… the list goes on and on. So when i was given the opportunity to try out Osta Salon & Spa located in Publika, Solaris Dutamas i was ecstatic because i really needed to get the tension out of my body and just have a moment to myself to relax.
Mummies! You deserve time for yourself!
My husband and i have always agreed that we need our ME time and time with our own friends. So it’s a mutual understanding which i think is really important in a marriage. In this day and age, a majority of couples in a marriage are both working and earning a living, which means that house chores should be equal, taking care of the kids should be equal and before i start to go in depth about equal rights, i’m going to stop myself here and continue with the purpose this post which is the Osta Salon & Spa.
Osta Salon and Spa is a female only spa catering to female clients who seek to escape from the hustle and bustle of hectic city life. While i was on the way to Publika, i received a call from Osta who would just like to check and remind me about the appointment. Which is great especially for someone who have so many things on their mind. The outlet is located on UG1 floor facing the main road. I was a bit confused on where to go, as I’m not that familiar with the area, and there was no clear signage of the Spa, which made me walk pass it in the beginning! LOL!
My therapist, Fieza was there to greet me with a warm welcome and i was asked to fill in a form, just like any professional spa out there. In the form you can highlight any areas that you want your therapist to avoid and also what are the things that you want them to focus on (Head, body, lower body, etc). The Spa is a very quaint place that has 4 concept rooms:
- Garden room (1 bed)
- Moroccan room (1 bed)
- Traditional Malay room (2 beds)
- English Facial room (2 beds)
The treatment that i got was the Nohem Argan Oil Massage. It’s a 1 hour relaxing treatment that concentrates on soft touch while applying the Nohem Argan oil. You can also ask for intense pressure according to preference, which of course i did- and yes it felt so good! The treatment starts from the lower part of the body and moves up to the shoulders and back.
I know a lot of plus size women who are shy to go for spa sessions because they are insecure with their bodies.
Why? Well for 1- you’re stripped down to just your undies, 2- You’re exposing your whole body to someone you don’t even know(which can actually be a good thing!) and 3- This person is going to touch you all over your insecurities.
Truthfully I was too! But you know what- Just forget about it because every body is different. NO ONE IS PERFECT, And us FAT women deserve some body loving too! Besides, if you’re uncomfortable with your therapist touching a certain part of your body just tell them. There’s no harm in that!
So anyway, the treatment that i had helps to encourage the production of endorphins which is also known as a pain killer. This is achieved with long strokes and a soft touch technique. The Nohem Argan Oil Massage is also a great option for cancer patients to improve skin complexity due to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. As for the oil that they use? It’s made in France in accordance with strict standards, plus, it even has certifications which guarantee quality formulas that are respectful of all skin types and the environment (Ecocert & Cosmebio). Awesome right?
Some of the other things that are worth mentioning is their complimentary hair blow drying after your refreshing shower and they even have a manicure and pedicure service for an overall transformation.
Overall, it was a relaxing experience that really got the tension out of my body. My skin felt really soft after too and didn’t feel greasy at all! Plus, the place is great for some quiet time and since it’s in Publika, a steaming cup of fresh coffee after is the perfect ending for some Me Time.
Then, it’s back to my boys..
