Truth to be told, i have never heard of Duchess & Co prior to this. The name sounds grand, their invitation card was superb and of course the fact that they mentioned that this was going to be their biggest fashion show to date, definitely got me intrigued in the brand.
First of all, a little introduction to Duchess & Co.
Duchess & Co happens to be a Malaysian label! Founded in 2013 by three dynamic ladies – Wendy Tai, Phang Ju Nn and Michelle Chong, the label known for its regal designs with a contemporary twist. It is also in their brand’s DNA that most of their pieces can be worn two-ways or more. Each Duchess & Co piece is thoughtfully designed in-house, and is catered to the confident and sophisticated women who want to stand out from the crowd. Both ready-to-wear and standalone signatures are available by the brand.
So their latest collection is called DAWN- A unique collection that mirrors the rising sun and a brand new, exciting day. I’m not much for fashion talks in details, but here is how they’ve describe their collection:
Inspired by the sublime hues of sunrise, the DAWN collection is intrinsically feminine. Following the gradients of daybreak, it is a bold take on the use of solid pastels such as powder blue and coral green that are matched with striking orange and royal blue. For a splash of modernity, geometric prints also play a prominent role in the collection. Another key element is the butterfly print, regarded as the symbol of transformation and freedom. This juxtaposition of motion prints against the soft yet vibrant tones showcases the richness of the collection, without losing the classic feminine touch.
I was so in love with the fashion runway, which gave a whole different experience- definitely not your average fashion walk and definitely not bad for a brand i’ve not heard off before.
In my eyes, the designs looks unique, elegant and definitely for one who likes to stand out from the crowd. It features versatile and functional pieces such as asymmetrical palazzo pants, slip dresses, off shoulder tops, crop tops, tiered-pleated skirts, skorts, togas and many more! There are so many pieces that i would wear! But too bad sizes only cater up to UK 12.
The DAWN collection is priced between RM189 to RM559, and will be available for purchase on their website. Or you can also purchase the collection at their physical stores in Jalan Telawi Bangsar, KL and Gurney Plaza, Penang.
